Re: Citroen C2 1.1 Idle Misfire. by Nemo26 » Wed Apr 03, 2019 7:05 pm. The way that you try to fix your car is not good. Missfire can ocur if engine miss spark, fuel, or compression. First of all make rpm drop test. When engine iddling, disconect spark plug harnes one by one and look for rpm drops.
The C2, like its predecessors, was one of the cheapest cars to run day-to-day. The 1.4-litre diesel was the pinnacle, with 65.7mpg combined - rising to 76.3mpg extra-urban – but no model was truly costly when it came to fuel. Even the sprightly VTS rated at nearly 41mpg, and all of the other petrol models were in the high 40s too.
Solution: To test if it is the gearbox bearings causing the whining noise, the best thing to do is to put your foot on the clutch pedal and push it all the way to the floor. If this causes the noise to stop, then it is the gearbox bearings that are at fault. You will need to have the bearings replaced to resolve the issue.
The C2 is currently returning only 30.5mpg, and due to the low gearing this doesn't improve much on the motorway. But if you want a car for life in the city, the Citroen is about as practical as
